Privacy Policy
StintLane is built so that your activity never leaves your Mac. This policy explains the little we do collect to run accounts and license keys, and what you can do about it.

Who we are
StintLane is made by thepublicgood (“we”, “us”). We're responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at makers@thepublicgood.dev.
Your activity stays on your Mac
Everything the StintLane app records (apps, window titles, files, folders, web addresses, calendar events, projects and rules) is stored only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/StintLane. We never receive it, can't see it and can't recover it for you. You control how long it's kept and can delete it at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data. See What's recorded in the guide for the details.
What we collect
Your account
When you create an account we store your name, email address and a hashed password. If you turn on two-factor authentication or add a passkey, we store what's needed to check them. While you're signed in, we keep a session that includes your IP address and browser's user agent.
License keys
When StintLane activates or checks a license key, it sends our server:
- the license key;
- a random identifier for your Mac, created by StintLane;
- your Mac's name, so you can tell your Macs apart in your account;
- the version and build date of StintLane.
We store these with the key, along with when each Mac last checked in. Nothing about your activity is ever sent.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Paddle, who act as the reseller and merchant of record for every order. Paddle collects your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We receive a customer reference, your email address and the details of each transaction, such as the amount and date. We never see your card details.
Server logs
Like most websites, our servers record requests, including IP addresses, for security, troubleshooting and to limit abuse. These logs are kept for a short time.
Updates
If you check for updates, StintLane downloads release information and new versions from GitHub. GitHub receives the request as it would for any download, under its privacy statement. StintLane sends nothing about you or your activity.
How we use it
- To run your account and sign you in securely.
- To issue, activate and check license keys, and to enforce the number of Macs a key can be used on.
- To process purchases and meet our tax and accounting obligations.
- To send emails you need, such as verifying your address, resetting your password and delivering license keys. We don't send marketing email.
- To keep the service secure and working.
We don't sell your information, show you ads or use it to build profiles. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies; the website only sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in and protect forms.
Who we share it with
We only share what's needed with the services that help us run StintLane:
- Paddle, to process payments.
- Mailgun, to send email.
- Our hosting and monitoring providers, to run the website and license server.
These providers may process information outside your country. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and license keys while your account exists. When you delete your account from Settings, your account, keys and activations are deleted. Records of purchases may be kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your name and email address in your account settings, see the Macs using your keys and deactivate them, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to correct or delete it, or to object to how we use it. Email us to do so, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
StintLane isn't meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by email.
